Shabbat and Shavuot

From Rabbi Seth Wax:

Mazal tov on your upcoming graduation! I’m so excited to celebrate with you in the weeks ahead. As you make plans for Commencement weekend (June 3-5), I’m writing to invite you and your loved ones to two events at the JRC: Shabbat dinner and Shavuot dinner.

On Friday evening, June 3, we will hold Shabbat services at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:00pm. We will have a catered meal, and it will be delicious.

On Saturday evening, June 4, the holiday of Shavuot begins. This holiday celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, and – since Torah is associated with milk – we enjoy lots of dairy products. (I know, it never totally made sense to me…but it tastes good!) We will have another catered meal that evening, featuring cheese lasagna, ice cream, and cheesecake, followed by a short program where we’ll learn some Jewish sources on the giving of the Torah. This will all be held immediately following Baccalaureate, so at approximately 6:30pm in the JRC.

You and your loved ones are welcome at all of these gatherings. To RSVP, please fill out this form by Thursday, May 26 at the latest. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Also, please share this email with your family/guests, so they know what to expect!
