Visitors with Disabilities

Baccalaureate at Chapin Hall:
PARTLY ACCESSIBLE. Chapin Hall is located at 62 Chapin Hall Drive. There is designated mobility impaired parking in the Sawyer Library parking lot. Persons in wheelchairs enter Bernhard Music Center at the ground floor, proceed to the elevator and go up to next level to access Chapin Hall. There is wheelchair space at the rear row and at the first row, just off the aisle. Accessible restrooms and water fountain are available in the audience breakout area of the Bernhard Music Center. Wheelchair parking and wheelchair access to each venue where events take place.

Ivy Exercises and Outdoor Commencement at West College Lawn:

West College Lawn is nestled in the Science Quad.  Mobility impaired guests may enter via Lab Campus Drive off of Route 2. Drivers will pass behind the stage and pull up to the ramp opposite Jesup Hall (the pink building). Disabled passengers should proceed up the ramp to the wheelchair accessible section directly ahead. Drivers must then turn around and park vehicles elsewhere. Please contact Carrie Greene ahead of time if you have a special need to park in proximity to the ceremonies as we cannot guarantee parking that day. Each disabled person may be accompanied by one family member in the accessible section.

Indoor Commencement at Lansing Chapman Rink:
ACCESSIBLE. The Rink is located at 76 Latham Street, off a large parking lot that has designated parking for the mobility impaired. There is easy access to the building from the parking lot. There is a designated accessible spectator area, restrooms and a water fountain. The signage is also in Braille for the vision impaired, and the fire alarm system includes strobe
lights for the hearing impaired.

Conversation with Honorary Degree Recipient at ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance:
A variety of accessible seating is available throughout the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance. Please indicate your specific seating needs when placing your ticket order(s). In addition to wheelchair spaces, the ’62 Center is equipped with a limited number of aisle seats that have folding armrests on aisle sides to make transfer easier for those with mobility limitations. If
you need such seating, please be sure to ask for a transfer seat when placing your ticket order. The ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance is equipped with an assistive listening system in our MainStage and Adams Memorial Theatre. Please provide the house manager with your driver’s license to check out a headset. For more information call (413) 597-2425.
