Accessibility Information for Specific Commencement Weekend Events

Ivy Exercises – Saturday, June 3rd @ 1:10pm – Library Quad

Parking: We recommend all guests (and those driving guests) with mobility issues park in parking lots behind Chapin Hall or Hollander Hall. Both are off Mission Park Drive. Golf carts will be available to transport guests to the ceremony site and back to the lots.

Seating: Ivy Exercises is open seating. Please arrive early and find a seat that works best for your family’s needs.

Baccalaureate – Saturday, June 3rd @ 5:00pm – Chapin Hall (tickets required)

Those with mobility issues should park in the lot behind Chapin Hall. Please use the rear entrance to Bernhard Music Center (to the Brooks-Rogers elevator) or the ramp at the front entrance of Chapin Hall (which connects to Brooks-Rogers).

Baccalaureate Simulcast – Saturday, June 3rd @ 5:00pm – MainStage, ’62 Center and Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall (no tickets)

Those who do not have tickets to Chapin Hall are invited to view the Baccalaureate Service in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, adjacent to Chapin Hall, or in the MainStage at the ’62 Center, no tickets required. The parking lot for the ’62 Center is in the rear of the building.

In addition to wheelchair spaces, the ’62 Center is equipped with a limited number of aisle seats that have folding armrests on aisle sides to make transfer easier for those with mobility limitations. The house manager can provide you with an assistive listening system. You will need your driver’s license to check out a headset. For more information call (413) 597-2425.

Commencement – Sunday, June 4th @ 10:00am – Library Quad

Parking: Guests with mobility issues may park in the lots behind Chapin Hall, and Hollander Hall, as well as by Dodd House and in the First Congregational Church parking lot.  Golf carts will be available to transport guests to the Commencement site, and from there to the President’s Reception and back to the parking lots. The demand for transport will likely be higher right after 9:00am, so please plan to arrive early to assure you will be seated before the ceremony begins.

Seating: Seating for those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility will be located in a clearly marked section. Family members are welcome to accompany their guest(s) in this section.

In the event of an Indoor Commencement (tickets required) or Ivy Exercises (no tickets):

Parking: The Danforth Lot, located off of Spring Street just past Pera Bistro, and the Ice Rink lot, will be designated parking for those with mobility issues. A door leading directly to an accessible seating area is located off the Danforth lot and will be clearly marked and staffed by ushers. The accessible entrance from the Ice Rink lot is to the right of the main entrance.

For those guests without tickets (Commencement only), Chandler Gym is our simulcast venue. Those transporting family members in wheelchairs or with mobility issues can park in the Upper Ice Rink lot. Entrance to Chandler Gym will be via the pool locker room door or the main entrance to Chandler Gym. If using the main entrance, family members can be dropped off by Pappa Charlie’s Deli and escorted to the courtyard. Ushers, Campus Safety officers, and signage will direct families as needed. If you enter via the main entrance, please take the elevator to the ground floor.

Seating: Please look for the designated handicapped seating on the ground floor of the gym.
